Job summary

KBR, Inc is seeking a Data Processing Systems Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD to lead design, development, and integration of scientific software for the USGS EROS Center. This onsite position involves collaboration with scientists and international partners to advance earth data processing capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and ensure reliability and security across the software lifecycle with a focus on testing, configuration management, and stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering or software development for scientific/engineering applications.
  • Experience leading complex design and integration efforts.
  • Strong understanding of Software Design Life Cycle, configuration management, and QA principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and maintenance of scientific/engineering software systems.
  • Define and document system requirements, concepts, and test plans.
  • Translate customer requirements into design specifications and prototypes.
  • Develop and execute test plans; perform integration, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Plan and coordinate work of engineers; mentor team members.

This is a full-time, **onsite role** that requires regular in‐person interaction with team members, scientists, and domestic and international mission partners. This team, in collaboration with NASA and the Landsat project, specializes in remote sensing and provides over fifty years of satellite imagery data to global users and science organizations.# # Why You'll Love This RoleYou will lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure mission-critical systems meet stringent reliability and security standards.
