Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking a Data Privacy and AI Governance Attorney to join a fast-paced national team. The ideal candidate will advise on data privacy compliance (CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, GDPR considerations), AI governance, and related litigation.

This position supports multiple offices and may be located in NY-area offices with hybrid flexibility. The role emphasizes collaboration with partners and other attorneys, a strong client-service orientation, and opportunities for leadership within a premier

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Must be admitted to practice in at least one state and federal jurisdiction.
• 3-8 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or AI governance legal practice.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. state and federal privacy laws; familiarity with GDPR and cross-border transfers.
• Experience advising on AI governance, algorithmic accountability, and emerging AI regulations preferred.
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT preferred.
• Demonstrated thought leadership in data privacy or AI governance preferred.
• Excellent analytical, writing, client service, and communications skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on data privacy compliance, including CCPA/CPRA and HIPAA frameworks.
• Counsel clients on AI governance frameworks and compliance with emerging AI regulations.
• Prepare data processing agreements, privacy policies, and AI use policies with privacy provisions.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and AI risk assessments for diverse industries.
• Defend clients in privacy litigation, including data breach and class action matters.
• Develop and deliver training programs on data privacy and AI ethics.
