Job summary

Huntington Bank is seeking an experienced Data Platform Manager to lead the Data Technology organization in Columbus, OH. You will manage a team of platform engineers responsible for modernizing enterprise data assets and migrating them to the cloud.

Reporting to the Director of Data Platforms, you will partner with the Chief Data Office, Data Architecture, Technology, and business teams to define and execute the data platform strategy, emphasizing governance, quality, and scalable cloud data

Qualifications

Data Platform Manager

Location: Easton, Columbus, OH — On-site

Position Overview

Huntington Bank is seeking an experienced Data Platform Manager to join our Data Technology organization. This leader will manage a team of platform engineers responsible for modernizing and strategically migrating enterprise data assets to the cloud.

Reporting to the Director of Data Platforms, the Data Platform Manager will partner closely with the Chief Data Office, Data Architecture, Technology, and business teams to define and execute the organization’s data platform strategy.

The ideal candidate views data as a strategic enterprise asset, understands the importance of data governance and quality, and brings proven leadership in cloud data platforms, data warehouse technologies, DevOps, and large-scale data migrations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of employees and contractors, including resource planning, work allocation, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development.


• Partner with Data Architects to translate technical designs into physical data models and scalable data warehouse solutions that align with business requirements, enterprise architecture, and data governance standards.


• Oversee data platform operations and ensure data is managed efficiently, securely, and reliably across the enterprise.


• Collaborate with operational data and data acquisition teams to understand source systems, downstream dependencies, reporting requirements, and analytics needs.


• Partner with technology and business stakeholders to evaluate, prototype, and recommend innovative data solutions and emerging technologies.


• Develop and maintain a strategic technology roadmap for the organization’s data platforms, balancing long-term transformation initiatives with tactical priorities and continuous improvement.


• Lead and execute cloud data migration and modernization initiatives, helping establish scalable and next-generation data platform capabilities.


• Work closely with the Chief Data Office and technology partners to architect and enable an effective enterprise data ecosystem.


• Establish and maintain operational metrics, service-level expectations, and performance objectives to ensure stable and reliable platform operations.


• Stay current with emerging cloud, data engineering, DevOps, and data management technologies and proactively identify opportunities to improve the organization’s data capabilities.


• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to developers, analysts, architects, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.


• 7+ years of experience managing technology teams focused on data warehouses, data platforms, or data engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working in an enterprise IT environment.


• Proven experience implementing cloud-based and enterprise data solutions.


• Strong experience with AWS data technologies, including S3, Lambda, EC2, IAM, and related cloud services.


• Experience leading cloud data migration and modernization initiatives.


• Strong understanding of data governance, data management, data quality, and enterprise data architecture.


• 5+ years of experience with ETL and data movement technologies such as AWS Glue, Informatica, or IBM InfoSphere.


• Experience with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Scala, or C/C++.


• Knowledge of DevOps, continuous delivery, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.


• Ability to evaluate, prototype, and recommend emerging cloud data technologies, open-source solutions, and vendor platforms.


• Strong organizational and leadership skills with demonstrated success building and managing high-performing engineering teams.


• Ability to establish priorities, manage resources, meet delivery commitments, and support business service-level agreements.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.


• Experience working with cross-functional teams including developers, data engineers, analysts, architects, security teams, and business stakeholders.


• Experience with enterprise data warehousing, data modeling, data integration, and data platform management.


• AWS or other relevant public cloud certifications are highly desirable, such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty or AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty.
