Job summary

Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build scalable data platforms supporting ETL, analytics, and ML workflows. You will collaborate with IT and business partners to translate strategy into data-driven solutions, ensure security, and drive reliable data delivery.

Our engineers work on on-prem and cloud data platforms, implement CI/CD, and mentor teammates while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced banking environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate ideas verbally and in writing to management, business and IT sponsors, and technical resources.
• Understanding of distributed computing principles and security concepts.
• Familiarity with big data technologies, ETL, BI, data warehousing, Java, CI/CD, cloud, or REST API design.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support data solutions, APIs, tools, and processes to enable rapid delivery of business capabilities.
• Work closely with IT application teams, Enterprise architecture, infrastructure, information security, and LOB stakeholders to translate strategies into data-driven solutions.
• Act as a technical expert addressing problems related to system and application design, performance, integration, security, etc.
• Conduct research and development based on current trends and technologies in banking data engineering and security.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, self-service build tools, and automated deployment processes.
• Provide support and troubleshooting for data platforms and on-call escalation for critical incidents.
• Participate in planning for hardware and software; plan internal projects and technical documentation.
• Provide mentoring for team members and manage multiple assignments.
