Job summary

PrizePicks is seeking a Data & Machine Learning Platform Engineering Intern to work onsite in West Midtown Atlanta. You will join the Data&ML platform team to productionize a platform powering distributed ETL and model development for real-time priced markets.

You will learn data pipeline architecture, collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science, and contribute to scalable ML deployments while gaining exposure to open-source projects and cloud infrastructure (GCP).

Qualifications

• Strong CS/engineering background in CS, Statistics, Mathematics, Informatics or related field.
• Strong coding skills in Python and SQL.
• Demonstrable history building robust data and ML platform apps/services.
• Good understanding of Kubernetes, CPU/GPU architectures.
• Interest in sports and fantasy markets.

Responsibilities

• Learn from the Data&ML Platform Engineering team about data, scalability, performance and MLOps.
• Assist in creating and maintaining optimal sports data stream architecture for fast, reliable pipelines.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science to operationalize DS/ML assets and ensure model quality.

Join the Team: Data & Machine Learning Platform Engineering Intern

This internship at PrizePicks offers students the opportunity to work with the Data&ML platform team to productionize a platform that powers distributed systems for ETL and model development for real-time priced markets within the product. Ideal candidates have a strong technical background in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields, proficiency in Python, and a passion for sports analytics. Standout applicants will have experience with lower-level programming languages, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure and continuous deployment (GCP), SQL/NoSQL databases/warehouses, MLOps, and demonstrated success in open-source projects.

What you'll do:

• Learn from the PrizePicks Data&ML Platform Engineering team on how we approach data, scalability, performance, and MLOps challenges.
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of optimal sports data stream architecture, ensuring data reliability in both speed and quality for data pipelines.
• Collaborate with our Data Engineering and Data Science team to determine best paths for operationalization of Data pipelines and DS/ML assets, ensuring model output quality, stability, and scalability.

What you have:

• Strong computer science/engineering background. Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Informatics, Information Systems or other quantitative field
• Strong coding skills - Python, SQL.
• Demonstrable history of building robust data and ML platform applications and services.
• Good understanding of Kubernetes, CPU and GPU architectures.
• Interest in sports and fantasy sports markets.

What makes you stand out:

• Experience with lower-level programming languages - Python, C++.
• Demonstrable background/coursework deploying a platform for data and/or machine learning applications or services from scratch.
• Success in open-source projects
• Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and collaboration experience with organizational technical and non-technical teams.

Engineering interns' starting hourly rate is $35. At PrizePicks, we consider your role, level, and where you'll be working when determining our salary ranges.
