Job summary

SMX is hiring a Data Analyst responsible for profiling data sources, documenting data lineage, and aligning data to a common domain model that powers enterprise data products, APIs, and analytics. This role collaborates with data engineers, architects, and build teams to translate data structures and movements into clear specifications.

The ideal candidate has 2–6 years of data analysis experience, strong SQL skills, and knowledge of data modeling and API mapping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 2–6 years of professional experience in data analysis or related role.
• Strong SQL skills to profile, query, and analyze data across sources.
• Experience with data mapping and end-to-end documentation.
• Working knowledge of data modeling and domain/canonical data models.
• Understanding of end-to-end data lifecycle and data movement across systems.
• Familiarity with API schema design and how data maps to contracts.
• Strong technical writing for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Profile data sources to assess structure and quality and document findings.
• Document end-to-end data lineage across systems.
• Align source data to a canonical/domain model for design consistency.
• Apply data elements to API schema design and contracts.
• Develop and document data rules, MDМ and data quality practices.
• Produce mappings, data dictionaries, metadata, and lineage artifacts.
• Communicate requirements to engineering and clients/ stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and analysts to meet downstream needs.
