Job summary

Wachter is seeking Low Voltage Project Technicians to support project work across the United States. This full‑time role installs, troubleshoots, and maintains structured cabling systems in diverse environments.

Travel is required, and a willingness to learn and assist in other cabling environments is essential. We value self‑motivated, reliable technicians who can work independently, communicate clearly, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Data Cable Technician.
  • Strong background in installing and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in retail environments.
  • Must hold a current valid state license for low voltage/burglar alarm/fire alarm/security/CCTV.
  • Able to travel extensively.
  • Willing to work on-call, day or night shifts as needed.
  • Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
  • Experience with CCTV, voice, and fire alarm cabling is a plus.
  • Knowledge of color codes and identifying conductors.
  • Comfort working in cramped spaces and at heights.
  • Experience with copper and fiber cabling.
  • Operate BOOM or scissor lift; have PPE and basic telecommunication tools.
  • Reliable transportation with insurance; good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Install and troubleshoot low voltage cabling in commercial buildings.
  • Read blueprints and site maps to plan runs.
  • Ensure cabling follows safety codes and standards.
  • Test newly installed cable systems and devices for operation.
  • Travel to multiple job sites across the US.
  • Maintain neat, organized cable runs with proper fastening.

Wachter is accepting applications for Low Voltage Project Technicians for project work at various locations across the United States. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing structured cabling systems in various environments. This full‑time position requires travel and a willingness to learn and help in other structured cabling environments if needed.

Qualifications
  • Experience as a Data Cable Technician.
  • Strong background in installing and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in retail environments.
  • Must hold a current valid State required license(s) for low voltage/burglar alarm/fire alarm/security/CCTV.
  • Available for extensive travel.
  • Flexible and willing to work on‑call, day or night shifts as the jobs require.
  • Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
  • Experience in CCTV, Voice, and Fire Alarm cabling is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in identifying independent colors and learning color codes.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces.
  • Experience working with Copper and Fiber.
  • Ability to operate a BOOM or scissor lift, and ability to work at heights.
  • Has PPE, basic telecommunication tools, and hand tools.
  • Reliable transportation with required insurance coverage.
  • Must have knowledge of cabling infrastructure.
  • Great communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Highly proficient with the use of email, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn internal systems.
  • Experience in conduit installation is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years.
  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cabling infrastructure.
  • Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
  • Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
  • Assist with pre‑installation opportunities by designing and planning technical solutions.
  • Installing of cable support structures such as j‑hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.
  • Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational.
  • Troubleshoot issues with cable networks.
  • Ensure electrical systems meet local, county, state, or federal codes; legal and/or insurance requirements.
  • Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by Wachter, our customers, or OSHA.
  • Perform any other duties not specifically stated herein, but which your supervisor may assign.
