This is hard, urgent, selfless work—but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

The Data & Insights Associate - B2B & Sales Ops

Will automate data collection and consolidation across Commercial Programs, Chains, Trade Marketing, and Sales Operations, turning fragmented, manually maintained information into reliable, timely, and decision-ready business insights.

The role acts as the data enablement layer for the four functions it serves, working under the MarTech Associate Director's data and analytics architecture, while partnering closely with the functional leads of Commercial Programs, Chains, Trade Marketing, and Sales Operations, who remain the business owners of the decisions those insights inform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Automation & Integration
  • Identify manual, spreadsheet-based, or duplicated data processes across Commercial Programs, Chains, Trade Marketing, and Sales Operations, and redesign them as automated data flows (Power BI, Power Automate, Python, SQL, or Lilly-approved MarTech/data platforms).
  • Design and own the end-to-end data architecture underpinning automation across the four functions — source systems, data flows, integration points, storage, and governance — ensuring it is scalable, documented, and maintainable as new processes are added.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and connectors between source systems (Veeva, Salesforce, ERP, distributor/chain data feeds) and reporting layers, ensuring data integrity and version control.
  • Standardize data definitions and taxonomies across the four service areas so metrics are comparable and auditable.
  • Business Insights & Analytics
  • Translate raw operational data into actionable insights and recommendations for Commercial Programs, Chains, Trade Marketing, and Sales Ops decision-making.
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc analyses (e.g., chain performance, trade investment ROI, sales force execution, program compliance) that support quarterly business reviews and MMC-level reporting.
  • Flag data anomalies, risks, or opportunities proactively, rather than waiting for a request.
  • Dashboards & Reporting
  • Design and maintain self-service dashboards (Power BI or equivalent) with clear ownership, refresh cadence, and access governance.
  • Ensure dashboards are built and maintained as decision-ready tools for Commercial Programs, Chains, Trade Marketing, and Sales Operations — surfacing the metrics each area needs to act, not just data for data's sake.
  • Cross-Functional Service & Governance
  • Serve as the single point of contact for data requests from Commercial Programs, Chains, Trade Marketing, and Sales Ops, prioritizing intake against business impact.
  • Operate within a clear Governace: this role is accountable for data accuracy, automation, and insight generation; functional leads remain accountable for the business decisions and outcomes.
  • Ensure all data handling complies with Lilly data privacy, security, and compliance standards, and route anything with commercial, pricing, or promotional implications through the appropriate MLR/compliance channel.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Document processes and build simple SOPs/playbooks so automated processes are sustainable beyond the individual.
  • Bring forward tooling or process improvement ideas to the MarTech Associate Director as part of the broader MarTech roadmap.
Expected Deliverables
  • Automated Data Pipelines: At least the top manual reporting processes across the four service areas migrated to automated flows within the first year.
  • Unified Reporting Layer: A consolidated dashboard suite covering Chains, Trade Marketing, Sales Operations, and Commercial Programs performance.
  • Insight Briefs: Recurring (monthly/quarterly) business insight summaries feeding into MMC or leadership reviews.
  • Data Governance Notes: Documented data definitions, access rules, and refresh cadences for each dashboard/report in scope.
  • Process SOPs: Documentation enabling continuity and scale of the automated processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, sales operations, or trade marketing analytics, ideally in a matrixed or pharma/CPG environment.
  • Hands-on proficiency in Power BI, Excel (advanced), SQL; Python or similar scripting is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CRM/data platforms such as Veeva or Salesforce, and familiarity with distributor/chain data structures.
  • Strong analytical rigor and attention to detail, with the ability to translate data into a clear business narrative for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders and prioritize competing data requests without close supervision.
  • Understanding of pharma commercial compliance (MLR, data privacy) is a plus.
