Position Title: Data Governance Specialist (Broadmoor Campus)
Position Summary
The main role of this position is to assist the information/data governance team in the formation and execution of the data governance framework, policy, and standards. The person assists in the implementation and support of the enterprise data governance program and the data governance software. This position champions organization-wide knowledge sharing and data stewardship to ensure the organization’s information, experience, and ingenuity are shared inside and (when appropriate) outside the organization. The Data Governance Team reports to the Informatics Department. The role requires intermediate skills in Informatics, SQL, data governance, decision support, data warehousing, and project management. The Data Governance Specialist operates as an information steward and data standards champion and collaborates with stakeholders to achieve goals.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Perform professional and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
- Data Governance: Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of data and information stewardship, data lineage, data sources, data integration, metadata, knowledge management, reporting, and analytics. Serve as a key driver of organizational data governance, supporting data standardization, and managing the data governance framework, policy, standards, and software. Collaborate closely with reporting teams, application teams, and Business Intelligence teams.
- Analysis: Apply analytical thinking and decisive judgment. Analyze issues systematically, gather balanced input, and translate conclusions into timely decisions. Prioritize work per organizational needs and work independently with little direction.
- Quality: Apply recognized methodologies for quality, process, and performance improvement. Develop control structures to ensure accuracy and quality of data. Perform data integrity gap analysis and coordinate resolution of data integrity gaps with business and technical owners.
- Process Management: Demonstrate proficiencies in system life cycles and comply with the defined framework for system implementation regarding review, approval, and dissemination of changes.
- Knowledge Sharing: Promote organizational knowledge and information sharing through the data governance program. Support the adoption of data governance software to facilitate sharing of standardized information internally and with external partners. Assist in establishing and nurturing the program and disseminating information through events and communications.
- Communication: Establish productive relationships across the organization and explain complex concepts in clear language. Demonstrate facilitation skills and foster collaboration among clinical, technological, and operational stakeholders.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding of current application systems, databases, data structures, data lineage, and data usage. Apply SQL for querying, reporting, and analytics. Maintain intermediate to advanced knowledge of data warehouses, data flow, and integration. Employ Excel for advanced operations.
- Professional Growth: Support hospital strategic goals by continuously enhancing knowledge in Nursing Informatics and industry standards.
- Auxiliary responsibilities may be assigned as required.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Graduate.
- At least 3 years of Informatics, analyst, data quality or data analysis, and/or reporting and analytics experience.
- At least 1 year of SQL experience.
- At least 1 year of report writing or analytics experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- Experience in Data Governance Management.
- Experience with Collibra.
Required Licensure and Certification
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of computers and desktop software.
- Ability to work autonomously with self‑motivation and creativity.
- Excellent communication, writing, organizational, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, administrative staff, clinical personnel, and peers.
- Ability to manage and prioritize work.
- Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets, software systems, and databases.
- Ability to write functional documentation.
- Persistence in solving problems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to transport oneself to various locations.
