Job summary

Plaid is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to define and steer data-governance at scale. You will lead the architecture for a platform that deletes, restricts, and traces data across many services, ensuring auditable controls and regulatory alignment.

You will partner with Legal, Privacy, Security, and product teams to translate requirements into robust governance solutions and mentor engineers to raise the bar across Plaid.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating backend distributed systems.
• Ability to design complex systems and drive multi-team initiatives.
• Strong fundamentals in data stores, consistency, and reliability.
• Excellent communication with legal, privacy, and compliance partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture for Plaid's data-governance platform.
• Lead multi-quarter, cross-team initiatives and deliverables.
• Drive design reviews and set engineering standards for reliability and auditability.
• Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, Security, and product-engineering teams to convert requirements into controls.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
