Job summary

7-Eleven, Inc. is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Data Engineering team in Irving, TX. You will oversee ingestion, transformation, modeling, and run-engineering across nine business domains and partner with Data Architects to implement Delta/Lakehouse platforms.

You will mentor engineers across onshore and offshore pods, drive master data programs, observability, data quality, and cost-efficient pipelines while communicating progress to executives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years professional experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or Analytics Engineering.
• 5+ years designing and operating large-scale data pipelines (batch and streaming) in lakehouse or data warehouse environments.
• 5+ years working with distributed compute frameworks (Spark/Databricks strongly preferred; Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, DLT a plus).
• 5+ years managing engineering teams, ideally across multiple pods with hybrid onshore/offshore delivery models.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling (dimensional/Kimball, data vault, medallion patterns) and experience translating models into physical implementations.
• Strong knowledge of master data management concepts and reference data governance.
• Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).
• Experience with data quality, observability, and lineage tooling, and embedding these into pipeline development.
• Experience operating production data pipelines, including SLAs and incident management with platform/SRE teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery across multiple Data Engineering pods (~25–30 engineers) across onshore/offshore teams.
• Build and operate ingestion, ELT, streaming, and lakehouse pipelines across multiple business domains.
• Set the technical vision for data engineering and modernization of legacy ETL into lakehouse architecture.
• Partner with Data Architects to translate models into physical implementations using Delta/Lakehouse platforms.
• Work with Governance and Quality teams to ensure observability, data quality rules, and lineage by design.
• Own delivery of legacy reporting and analytics modernization; refactor OLAP models to dimensional designs.
• Run the Data Engineering function as a product organization with backlog, governance, and adoption tracking.
• Mentor engineers and managers; coach offshore teams on modernization and code quality.
• Partner with Platform teams on CI/CD, cost attribution, and observable data workloads.
• Own incident response and SLA adherence for production pipelines.
