Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Data Engineer Principal to own the end-to-end design and development of scalable data pipelines and APIs. You will work on modern data solutions, ingesting and transforming data from diverse sources, within an Agile team to deliver mission-critical software products.

The role requires a BS degree, 5+ years of related experience, and expertise in NodeJS or Python, APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and ETL workflows.

• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Solid experience with ETL workflows and data pipelines.
• US citizenship required and TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

We’re looking for a Data Engineer who is passionate about building modern, scalable solutions for ingesting and transforming data. This role blends back-end engineering with data pipeline development and is perfect for someone who enjoys designing modular services and bringing structure to complex data environments.

As part of our Agile team, you’ll design and develop software products and services that efficiently ingest, process, and manage data from a variety of sources. You’ll play a key role in building robust, reusable APIs and data pipelines that support critical operational and analytical systems.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Data Engineer Principal must have:

• Education: BS
• Experience: 5+ years of related experience
• Technical skills: Knowledge of NodeJS or Python, Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and distributed systems, Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and using them to enrich data, Solid experience in building and maintaining ETL workflows and data pipelines.
• Security clearance level: TS/SCI with Polygraph
• US citizenship required
• Role requirements: Excellent organizational, coordination, interpersonal and team building skills, Familiarization with NoSQL datastores, Familiarization with MCP Servers and API management
