Job summary
Accrete is seeking a Data Engineer to join our government-focused data platform team in Alexandria, VA. You will ensure data is ingested, organized, transformed, and accessible to users and applications relied upon by mission staff.
You'll collaborate with data scientists, engineers, AI/ML teams, and government customers to maintain reliable data workflows, resolve data issues, and strengthen data governance across complex datasets in secure environments.

- Active TS/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence or Lifestyle Polygraph.
- 3+ years in data engineering, data management, database administration, or related field.
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Information Systems, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong SQL skills with relational databases.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows.
- Experience with Python or other scripting for data processing.
- Experience with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Understanding of data quality, data governance, metadata, and lifecycle management.
- Able to work independently while collaborating with technical and mission teams.

As a Data Engineer, you will work across data engineering, data management, system administration, and technical mission support. You will help ensure that data is properly ingested, organized, transformed, validated, and made accessible to the users and applications that depend on it.
You will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, AI/ML teams, system administrators, and government customers to maintain reliable data workflows and resolve data-related issues.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who understands both how data moves through technical systems and how users need to access and manage that data.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot data ingestion and transformation pipelines

- Help users troubleshoot data access and management issues

- Provide technical guidance and training to users where appropriate

- Experience building or supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows
- Experience with Python or another scripting language for data processing and automation
- Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets
- Understanding of data quality, data governance, metadata, and data lifecycle management
- Experience troubleshooting technical and data‑related issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex datasets

- Experience supporting the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or other federal mission
- Experience administering enterprise data management platforms

- Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments
- Experience with Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, or other large‑scale data platforms
- Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or other data pipeline and orchestration technologies
- Experience with REST APIs and automated data ingestion
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience working in classified, secure, or air‑gapped environments
- Experience supporting AI/ML, NLP, LLM, or knowledge management applications
- Experience with data visualization or analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Familiarity with federal data management, security, and compliance requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain additional security clearance accesses to Special Access Programs (SAP) or Access Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM)

You will help ensure that data pipelines run reliably, new datasets can be onboarded efficiently, data quality issues are identified and resolved quickly, and users can access the information they need without unnecessary friction.
