Job summary

BigBear.ai is hiring a Data Engineer to join the Data Architecture & Engineering team, building scalable data pipelines that turn raw data into analytics-ready datasets. You will partner with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to power applications and reporting in high-impact environments.

You’ll design end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines, leverage AWS services, and maintain data assets while ensuring data quality and security.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering or IS.
• 4–8 years in data engineering, ETL development, or database administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based data integration.
• Proven ability to design ETL/ELT architecture and build reliable data pipelines at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver structured and unstructured data.
• Develop and operate ETL processes emphasizing data quality, consistency, and performance.
• Leverage AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift) for scalable data processing and storage.
• Create and maintain data assets such as schemas, transformation logic, and documentation.
• Monitor and support production data systems ensuring integrity and fault tolerance.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver data features and improve capabilities.
• Support database engineering tasks including indexing, access controls, optimization.
• Participate in Agile, delivering iterative value and adapting to mission needs.
• Build and integrate APIs for secure data access across systems.
• Work with cloud messaging APIs and push notification mechanisms where applicable.
• Continuously improve tooling and practices to strengthen data engineering maturity.
