Job summary

M&S Consulting is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join a small, high-impact on-site team in the Washington, D.C. metro area. You will own end-to-end data pipelines on a standalone, classified platform, collaborating with data owners and analysts.

Requirements include Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and 3–5 years in Python and data engineering, plus experience with graph databases and orchestration tools. This is a direct-hire, long-term role with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Python development experience.
• 3–5 years building ETL pipelines and data storage optimization.
• 3–5 years with pipeline orchestration tools and concepts.
• 3–5 years of theoretical and practical data science foundations.
• Hands-on experience with graph modeling and graph databases.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform ETL tasks on a stand-alone data platform.
• Use, troubleshoot, and modify data extraction and storage tools.
• Identify and implement new tools following security processes.
• Stay current with data engineering advances and guide tool usage.
• Engage with data owners to understand provenance and context.
• Produce reports and draft technical documentation.
• Maintain the team's networks and computing environment.
• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and stand-alone networks.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits with leadership.
