Job summary

Twtspain is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable data and analytics solutions in a Databricks environment. You will implement DBT, SQL, and Jinja transformations and apply Medallion Architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and delivery teams, ensuring governance, documentation, and high-quality data products. Remote EU availability enables client-facing projects and ongoing optimization.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of data engineering experience required.

  • Proficient with DBT, SQL, and Jinja for transformations.
  • Experience implementing Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data and analytics solutions in Databricks environments.
  • Build, optimize, and support data pipelines using DBT, SQL, and Jinja.
  • Implement and maintain Medallion Architecture data layers (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Apply data modeling best practices for analytics and reporting.
  • Develop reusable data transformation frameworks and processes.
  • Optimize transformations and pipelines for performance and scale.
  • Manage Git/GitFlow version control and CI/CD integration.

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Data / Analytics Engineer with strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data and analytics solutions within Databricks environments. The role focuses on building robust data pipelines, implementing modern data architectures, and delivering high-quality analytical solutions that support business objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and delivery teams to translate requirements into effective data solutions. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing data transformations using DBT, SQL, and Jinja, implementing Medallion Architecture principles, supporting CI/CD practices, and ensuring high standards of governance, traceability, maintainability, and documentation. The role also involves active stakeholder engagement through workshops, requirements clarification sessions, and progress reviews to ensure successful delivery of business-focused data products.

Tasks:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data and analytics solutions in Databricks environments.
  • Build, optimize, and support data pipelines using DBT, SQL, and Jinja.
  • Implement and maintain Medallion Architecture data layers (Bronze, Silver, and Gold).
  • Apply data modeling best practices to support analytical and reporting requirements.
  • Develop reusable and maintainable data transformation frameworks and processes.
  • Optimize data transformations and workflows to improve performance and scalability.
  • Manage source code repositories using Git and GitFlow methodologies.
  • Support and contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment practices.
  • Gather and analyze business and technical requirements from stakeholders.
  • Translate functional and business needs into reliable and effective data solutions.
  • Document data processes, architecture decisions, technical designs, and implementation details.
  • Collaborate with analysts, architects, and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate workshops, progress reviews, and requirements clarification sessions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure governance, traceability, maintainability, and quality standards are consistently applied across solutions.
  • Monitor and improve the reliability, performance, and overall quality of data platforms and pipelines.
Specific Expertise:
  • Proven experience working in Databricks production environments.
  • Strong expertise in DBT, SQL, and Jinja for data transformation and pipeline development.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers).
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices.
  • Experience designing reusable, scalable, and maintainable data transformation solutions.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, traceability, maintainability, and documentation standards.
  • Experience with Git and GitFlow version control methodologies.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining CI/CD processes and automation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including requirements gathering and business analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead workshops, progress reviews, and requirements clarification sessions.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in client-facing environments.
  • Strong focus on delivering reliable, business-oriented, and high-quality data solutions.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Services.
  • Knowledge of Data Lakes and modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration and workflow management.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative delivery practices.
