SteerBridge, Inc. is hiring a Data Engineer (Mid-Level) for our Vienna, VA headquarters. You will design, build, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for real‑time and batch data processing, collaborating with data scientists and engineers to deliver data products across cloud platforms.

The role emphasizes data lake design, governance, and secure data handling in a federal/private sector environment. On‑site work 3–5 days/week may be required, with hybrid options at supervisor discretion.

Qualifications

• Citizenship in the U.S. is required for this role and you must be able to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong Python and SQL with hands‑on Pandas, PySpark, and AWS Glue experience.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT, data lake design, and cloud‑based architectures.
• Experience with real‑time and batch data processing and implementing data governance, security, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, optimize, and maintain scalable batch and real‑time ETL/ELT pipelines across distributed systems.
• Develop and manage cloud data architectures (data lake) using AWS S3 and Azure Blob Storage, including API data integration.
• Implement data transformation, workflow automation, and orchestration (dbt, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, AWS Glue, EventBridge).
• Develop performant SQL queries and Python/JavaScript scripts for data ingestion, parsing, transformation, and processing.
• Conduct data profiling, validation, and quality checks with data lineage, governance, security, and performance standards.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data products for analytics and modeling.
• Maintain documentation and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and best practices.
