Delmar Nord is seeking a data engineer in Boston to own core data systems for investment teams. The role focuses on cloud-based enterprise data warehousing (Azure) and integration with external platforms, with a strong emphasis on data quality and scalable architectures.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software or data engineering experience, knowledge of data modeling, and familiarity with Azure or AWS in financial services contexts. Hybrid work in Boston is available.

One of Boston’s most prestigious investment management firms has an exciting opportunity for a data engineer to join their data engineering group. This firm is known for their outstanding culture, quality of life, learning opportunities, and retention, as well as a decades-long track record and a research-driven, intellectually rigorous approach to investing. This team owns the core data infrastructure that powers their investment process across the entire firm; they're now building on that foundation to modernize how data is accessed and used for a firm wide AI transformation effort. They've already invested heavily in increasing the velocity of their research and investment process with agentic platforms and tooling, and are now expanding the scope of this effort to new teams after delivering some exciting, early wins to research teams. This is a front-row seat that will own the data systems and infrastructure at the heart of this firm's most significant and high visibility AI effort.

Position Overview:

This role works on business-critical data systems, with a primary focus on the firm’s cloud-based (Azure) enterprise data warehouse. You’ll sit at the intersection of data, investment operations, and AI, partnering with senior engineers, architects, and business stakeholders. You’ll have real exposure to the business and build systems with visible, firm-wide impact. This is a great fit for engineers who care about software craftsmanship and data architecture and who can build high-quality, maintainable solutions at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and support next-generation data systems for investment teams
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and integrations across the internal data warehouse, a Python-based data quality framework, and third-party investment platforms (e.g. Bloomberg, Eagle PACE, NeoXam DataHub, BlackRock Aladdin, etc.).
• Evolve the platform beyond a traditional warehouse by building UI functionality and AI integrations.
• Design efficient data models with a focus on performance, scalability, and cost.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and contribute to architecture discussions and code reviews.

• 5+ years of software or data engineering experience using Python and SQL
