Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Data Engineer in Arlington, VA, to partner with business teams, design and maintain data pipelines, and lead data governance initiatives. The role supports AI-assisted development and productionizes data products across the organization.

The position is a 6-month contract onsite two days per week with compensation of $45–$48 per hour. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and have strong SQL, data modeling, and ETL skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, CS, data analytics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years in data engineering or related analytics roles.
• Experience with relational DBMS, SQL, data modeling, and analytics-ready dataset design.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, data integrations, or automated workflows.
• Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, governance, or data stewardship; data.world preferred.
• Proficiency with reporting tools such as Power BI, QuickSight, Tableau, Salesforce reporting, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner with internal teams to define business questions and build datasets, automations, and reporting solutions.
• Design, build, test, document, and maintain data pipelines, data models, and analytics-ready datasets.
• Lead data cataloging initiatives including metadata standards, documentation, lineage, and ownership.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes, data transformations, quality checks, and workflow automations.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve engineering, documentation, testing, and automation while following security practices.
• Design and troubleshoot workflow automations with Zapier and Asana for reliable data movement and notifications.
• Prototype, validate, and productionize reporting and data-product solutions with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data science, analytics, enterprise apps, and business users to improve data access and governance.
• Document technical solutions, data definitions, and support procedures.
• Create ETL automation for internal data sources used by researchers.
