Job summary

ByteDance in Bellevue, WA is seeking a data engineering professional to design and build robust ETL pipelines and scalable data products supporting business analytics. Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 1 year of related work experience OR 3 years with Bachelor’s in the same fields.
• 1 year in each: designing data warehouses, ETL with Hive/Spark/Hadoop/SQL Server, programming with SQL/Python/Java, SLAs for data pipelines, and building data services with HBase/Elastic Search/ClickHouse/SQL Server.

• Design and implement reliable, scalable data products for core services and analytics.
• Provide production support for scheduled ETL jobs and manage incidents related to data and code defects.
• Perform production releases and post-production support.

• Collaborate with development teams and business customers on evolving data requirements.
• Gather and refine evolving business and functional requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data ETL pipelines efficiently and reliably based on different business initiatives to support business report, risk analysis, and multi-dimensional analysis.
• Design and implement reliable, scalable, robust and extensible big data products to support core products and business.
• Provide production support for scheduled ETL jobs and perform incident management to resolve any issues related to data and code defects.
• Perform production releases and provide post-production support.
• Recommend and implement different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality.
• Work cross-functionally with development teams and business customers to address issues and emerging requirements in data products.
• Participate in gathering evolving business requirements and functional requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, and 3 years of related work experience.
• Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following: Designing and modeling data warehouse to support data analytics, reporting, and data applications; Implementing data warehouse and ETL processes using Hive, Spark, Hadoop, or SQL Server to optimize the data processing performance; Programming using SQL, Python, or Java; Estimating SLAs for the data pipeline, and triaging and debugging data infrastructure issues; and Building data services or applications using data query engines HBase, Elastic Search, ClickHouse, or SQL Server, and optimizing the query performance.
