Job summary

Astrana Health seeks Data Engineers at various levels to join our Data - Analytics team. You will report to the Director - Data Engineering and collaborate across analysts, engineers, data scientists, and clinical leaders to produce deliverables for internal and external clients.

With millions of lives managed nationwide, we rely on scalable ELT pipelines, robust data models, and BI dashboards to drive strategy and improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in healthcare, analytics, statistics, finance, business, or related field; MBA/MPH preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of SDLC practices.
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark and SQL; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Use data engineering best practices to produce high quality, accessible data models.
  • Develop domain knowledge in healthcare operations and analytics regulatory tracking.
  • Apply quality measures and metrics to datasets from internal and external clients.
  • Build scalable ELT pipelines and BI dashboards, embracing automation.
  • Implement data quality checks to identify data issues and shifts.

Compensation: $105,000 - $200,000 / year

Description

We are currently seeking highly motivated Data Engineers at various levels. This role will report to the Director - Data Engineering and work closely with data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and clinical leaders to produce deliverables for internal and external clients. What You’ll Do
  • Use data engineering best practices to produce high quality, maximally available data models which are intuitive to data analysts and trusted by stakeholders
  • Develop deep domain knowledge in healthcare operations, tracking regulatory developments related to analytics products you maintain
  • Apply quality measures and other metrics to datasets originating from internal and external clients
  • Build scalable ELT pipelines and business intelligence dashboards as needed, embracing automation wherever possible
  • Implement data quality checks which proactively identify data issues and distributional shifts to ensure accuracy of downstream analytical products
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required in healthcare, analytics, statistics, finance, business, or related field; Master’s degree (MBA, MPH) preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Working knowledge with programming or scripting languages such as Python, Spark, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including documentation, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Familiarity with normalized, dimensional, star schema and snowflake schematic models
  • Working experience with Databricks preferred
  • Familiarity with business intelligence exploratory or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI.) preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Excel.
You’re a great for this role if:
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the data and analytics landscape
  • At least 2 years of experience using version control to manage code changes
  • At least 2 years of experience in managed care or other healthcare data field preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience using cloud-based services from AWS, GCP, or Azure
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
  • This position is remotely based in the U.S.
  • The total compensation target pay range for this role is: $105,000 - $200,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location (current or future), experience, and other job-related factors.
