Job summary

Expression is seeking a Data Engineer to support the DEA ICDE modernization. You will design scalable data pipelines, migrate legacy data, and ensure data quality for analytics and AI/ML use cases. The role requires Top Secret (SCI) clearance and on-site work in Arlington, VA.

You will collaborate with analysts, developers, and business partners to deliver secure, scalable data solutions across cloud environments and legacy systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2+ years of experience.
• Hands-on data analysis, ETL development, and data migration.
• SQL proficiency with complex queries and tuning.
• Python for data manipulation and workflow automation.
• Experience with ETL frameworks or orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and staging.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift, BigQuery, Azure SQL).
• Ability to document data mappings and transformation logic.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Support large-scale migration of legacy data into the modernized ecosystem.
• Analyze complex data structures and mappings for workflow optimization.
• Implement data cleaning, standardization, validation, and transformation.
• Monitor data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across platforms.
• Develop data migration strategies across platforms and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and developers to translate requirements.
• Support data interoperability and exchange across integrated systems.
• Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Document data flows, mappings, and transformation logic.
