Job summary

Mattel Game Studios seeks a Data Engineer II to own the analytics backbone for our mobile free-to-play portfolio. You’ll design and operate pipelines, data models, and quality systems that turn raw telemetry into analyst-ready datasets for retention, monetization, and engagement across titles.

This is a build-while-running role; you’ll keep existing pipelines healthy, migrate legacy infrastructure to a partner-managed ETL platform, and stand up new capabilities with it.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a Data Engineer shipping production data pipelines.
• Expert SQL and strong Python, with hands-on BigQuery and Airflow/Cloud Composer experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in medallion architecture, dimensional modeling and DW optimization.
• Mobile F2P analytics experience with telemetry, retention, LTV and ARPDAU metrics.
• Hands-on working knowledge of GCP-native tooling and data observability.

Responsibilities

• Run and optimize the LiveData ETL framework for mobile game telemetry ingestion and transformation.
• Maintain silver/gold transformation layers in BigQuery with optimized schemas for analytics.
• Migrate legacy Airflow pipelines to the partner platform without disrupting live reporting.
• Collaborate with game studios and analysts on tracking plans, events, and data contracts.
• Build data quality, observability systems, and CI/CD practices for pipelines.
• Contribute to engineering practices and apply AI tooling to SQL authoring and documentation.
