Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to help design, develop, and sustain data pipelines and basic data infrastructure that enable analytics, AI/ML, and decision support for DoD programs at Quantico. You will ingest and prepare data from Marine Corps and DoW systems.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to engineering standards, and security controls, with opportunities to learn from senior engineers and contribute to data models, dictionaries, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in data engineering, database development, or related technical role.
• Basic experience with SQL and at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python).
• Familiarity with relational databases and concepts such as tables, views, indices, and joins.
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Experience supporting DoW/USMC or other Federal customers (desired).

• Assist in building and maintaining pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into analytic data stores.
• Implement basic data quality checks, validation routines, and data cleansing processes.
• Support the integration of structured and semi-structured data sources relevant to capability development and experimentation.
• Work with senior data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
• Contribute to the documentation of data flows, schemas, and data dictionaries.
• Implement basic data security and access controls in accordance with DoW/USMC policies and best practices.
• Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and support operations and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $110,000.00/Yr. - USD $125,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
