  • Ability to combine a diverse set of data sources containing multiple forms of information including, but not limited to, Open Source, Publicly Available Information (PAI), Commercially Available Information (CAI), and intelligence records to provide technical information to produce data packages.
  • Ability to elicit and define system requirements, track progress against defined milestones to ensure completion, and evaluate test results to validate system performance and acceptance criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain software solutions, including writing production-quality code, managing version-controlled repositories, and writing technical documentation.

Job Summary

Castalia Systems is seeking a Jr.-level Data Engineer to support one of our government customers in Chantilly, Virginia. The Data Engineer utilizes a diverse range of data-focused skills, experience, deep technical and analytical problem solving, and team-centered solutioning for complex problems to satisfy priority information enabling operations. This position requires strong attributes for problem solving, data analysis, troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and experimentation, often under time sensitive decisions.

Roles and Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in an engineering or science related field.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging modern data analysis and engineering tools (e.g. Python, Excel, AWS) to process, analyze, and visualize data, enabling efficient insight generation and decision support.
  • Knowledge of National Intelligence Agencies and Department of Defense elements.
  • Familiarity with the space domain, including orbital mechanics, satellite systems, space-based sensors and associated operational concepts.
  • Familiarity with Agile processes.
  • Advanced Statistical knowledge and analysis methods (e.g., Bayesian Statistics, multivariate analysis, machine learning techniques).
  • Experience in analytical tool development, identification, and integration.

Salary at Castalia Systems is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, position knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $150,000.00 to $160,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Castalia Systems’ total compensation package for employees.
