Job summary

Textron is seeking a Data Engineer II to architect, develop, and optimize robust data infrastructure supporting data-driven initiatives. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement across data systems.

You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, well-governed data assets that enable strategic decisions. This role emphasizes performance, reliability, and security within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field.
• 3 years of experience in data engineering or similar roles.
• Proficiency designing and maintaining scalable ETL pipelines.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or equivalent.
• Solid SQL and experience with relational/noSQL databases.
• Experience with data validation and testing frameworks.
• Ability to work with cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with data modeling and warehousing concepts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion and delivery.
• Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to translate requirements.
• Develop data validation, quality, and testing frameworks.
• Oversee ETL/ELT, real-time streaming, and batch processing.
• Contribute to data models, storage, and metadata strategies.
• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.
• Mentor Data Engineer I team members and promote best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex data issues and implement sustainable fixes.
• Stay current with emergent data technologies and tools.
• Recommend improvements to data reliability and quality.
• Maintain version control in DevOps environments.
