Job summary

Amazon’s FAA Decision Science team seeks a Data Engineer to build and operate data pipelines powering analytics, experimentation, forecasting, and business decisions. You’ll contribute to foundational data systems used across Data Science, BI, Product, Finance, Advertising, and Engineering teams.

The ideal candidate is early in their career with strong data engineering fundamentals, reliability focus, and the ability to translate cross-functional requirements into robust data solutions.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and ETL pipelines
• Experience with SQL
• Experience with one or more query languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
• Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, KornShell)
• Knowledge of database, data warehouse, or data lake solutions
• Preferred: Big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
• Knowledge of designing data schemas (normalization vs. dimensional)
• Experience with AWS tech (Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda)
• Experience with privacy/compliance/governance programs
• Experience using AI to accelerate development work

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and deployment of data pipelines and datasets
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using SQL, Python, and AWS services
• Support data infrastructure operations, including monitoring and data quality controls
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues and trade-offs
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable data solutions
• Contribute to conversational and self-service analytics data products
• Support compliance, privacy, retention, and governance requirements
• Document solutions for maintainability
• Participate in code reviews and team planning
• Provide on-call support for pipelines and datasets
• Create datasets and documentation for AI-assisted analytics tools
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering efforts
