Job summary

Amazon is seeking a data engineering-focused professional to support the global Accounting BI team in building automated reporting and data platforms. The role emphasizes back-end and front-end development for a web portal, leveraging AWS cloud tech and scalable data pipelines to provide accurate financial insights.

You will collaborate with business owners to define key questions, craft efficient UI/UX, and implement best practices for SDLC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
• Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full SDLC, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control, CI/CD, testing and operations.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Responsibilities

• Working with stakeholders and other engineering teams to identify and scope the data architecture and technology for analysis of common customer questions in Amazon.
• Partnering with partner engineering teams to enhance UI solutions, data infrastructure, data availability, and broad access to customer insights via BI tools.
• Design, build and implement the right solutions using AWS and similar technologies.
• Enable large scale solutions using Python, React, JavaScript, Typescript and AWS services.
• Establishing and implementing technology best practices across the organization.
• Work on proof of concepts for adoption of new technology and tools

The Accounting BI team supports the global Accounting organization with process automation/improvements, developing automated reporting solutions/tools, and improving the ability of the accounting organization to process, analyze, access and consume accurate and timely financial data. The team supports the global accounting organization and partners closely with all technical roles across the org and various businesses and industries Amazon operates in.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes working with ambiguity, data, and enjoys the challenges of highly complex business context. This role requires an individual with a strong back-end and front-end background to maintain our web portal, deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, optimizing data for business intelligence solutions, and the ability to quickly learn, adapt and work with a variety of technologies. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and build solutions that help to answer those questions. You should be able to architect highly efficient UI solutions (front and back end), making a tradeoff between scalability, performance and user functionality needs, using expert knowledge in software development technologies.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSU). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
