Job summary

SIG Susquehanna is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Systematic Delta One desk, building scalable data pipelines powering alpha research and trading strategies. You will ingest vendor and alternative datasets, preserve history, and extend platforms to unstructured sources.

Strong Python, SQL, data modeling, and experience with batch processing, cloud data shares, and versioned data are required to support backtesting and research workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building Python data apps over large historical datasets
• Experience ingesting third‑party/vendor data at scale (S3/SFTP, cloud data shares, APIs)
• Strong SQL and familiarity with Parquet/Arrow/DuckDB, NumPy, Pandas or Polars
• Knowledge of temporal or versioned data and reproducible research workflows
• Operational experience with production data pipelines, monitoring, and restatement handling
• Ability to translate research ideas into robust, scalable datasets
• Experience with LLMs in data problems or agentic tooling is a plus
• Cloud data delivery experience (AWS S3, Snowflake) is a plus
• Quantitative finance/trading environment exposure is a plus
• Advanced degree is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end onboarding of new datasets, from evaluation to ingestion pipelines and production monitoring
• Build point-in-time datasets preserving history and handling restatements/backfills
• Design entity-mapping and reference datasets linking vendor IDs to tradable instruments
• Extend ingestion platform to unstructured data using LLMs and AI tooling
• Run data-quality and vendor-evaluation studies to inform licensing decisions
• Create research-ready datasets optimized for large-scale historical analysis and backtesting
• Improve the shared ingestion platform to onboard datasets faster
