Job summary

Gainwell Technologies is seeking a Data Engineer - Cloudera & AWS Lakehouse to drive data pipeline and lakehouse initiatives. You will lead teams, design complex database software, and ensure reusable, scalable components across servers, apps, and web layers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in PySpark, Cloudera, AWS, Iceberg, and Airflow, with some .NET/C# experience. The role is remote in Texas with travel up to 0-10% and opportunities for growth within a supportive, learning-focused culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in PySpark development and large data pipelines.
• Hands-on with Cloudera Data Platform and AWS data engineering.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Lakehouse, and Spark integration.
• Airflow DAG development and AWS service integration.
• 2+ years in C#/.NET is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical teams to design, develop, test and install complex database apps.
• Oversee interfaces between architects and developers for reusable components.
• Document designs and code to deliver purpose-built products.
• Act as SME in development, domain, and database methodologies.
• Provide technical consulting and guide application modules and components.
• Mentor less experienced designers.

Your role in our mission

• Head up technical teams and workstreams as you design, develop, test and install complex database applications software — with server, client and web components
• Keep the team on the same page by overseeing relationships between application architects and developers to ensure design requirements result in flexible, reusable system components
• Create more satisfied clients by writing highly complex design, coding and testing documentation that yields purpose-built technical products that meet real needs
• Shine as an SME in the areas of development, domain, application design and database methodologies and best practices
• Show your know-how as you provide clients with technical consulting on highly complex projects by refining existing apps and designing new application modules and components
• Exercise your expertise by mentoring and guiding less experienced application designers

What we're looking for

• 5+years of hands-on experience Advanced PySpark Development skills with experience building, optimizing, and maintaining large scale data pipelines in Cloudera Data Platform.
• 5+years of hands-on experience AWS data engineering experience, including Spark workload management across EMR, Glue, and S3 based data lake environments.
• 5+years of hands-on experience Apache Iceberg knowledge, including Lakehouse table management, schema evolution, performance optimization, and Spark integration.
• 5+years of hands-on experience Airflow orchestration experience, including DAG development, workflow monitoring, and integration with AWS services such as S3, EMR, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• 2+ years .NET/C# experience preferable

• Opportunities to travel through your work (0-10%)
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs and travel as required

The pay range for this position is $90,900.00 - $129,900.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
