Giant Eagle in Cranberry Township is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Enterprise Data Platform team. You will work with analytics, data science, and business partners to translate capability requirements into scalable data solutions.

This developer role focuses on data access, integration, modeling, visualization, and pipelines using Databricks, Airflow, PySpark, SQL and Python, with cloud exposure and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• 2+ years of data engineering experience with ETL/ELT methods.
• 1+ years data modeling for analytics and large datasets.
• Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration and scheduling.
• Experience with Spark and Hive; Databricks/AWS/Azure exposure preferred.
• Experience using RESTful web services to collect/publish data.
• Proficiency in Python, R, Linux, Java, JavaScript, and SQL.
• Familiarity with data ethics and PII data handling.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements end-to-end complex data projects and technical solutions translating business requirements into data architectures.
• Builds and automates data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate data for analysis.
• Applies analytic methods to discover insights from data sources to enable analytics solutions.
• Implements scalable dataflows from multiple marketing platforms into a cloud data lake.
• Uses Tableau, PowerBI, and Looker for data visualization with data modeling.
• Designs, implements, and deploys data applications using big data tech.
• Provides SME support across projects through all development lifecycle stages.
• Governs and administers the data platform to collect, transform, enrich, unify, and integrate data.
• Adheres to data ethics guidelines around PII datasets.
• Collaborates with IT, Performance Marketing, and business leaders to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Participates in on-call rotation; supports agile development.
• Retail industry experience is a plus.
