Job summary

Ascot Group in Chicago seeks a Data Engineer to join the Data Integration & Delivery Team. You will analyze, develop, implement, test, and support data warehouse projects, including Phinsys and the Data & Integration Hub.

This role requires hands-on ETL work and collaboration in a hybrid office setting. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in data engineering/analyst roles, strong SQL, and experience with ETL tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, CS, data analytics, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst/Engineer for a large Data Warehouse.
• Experience with ETL tools: SSIS, Informatica, ADF.
• Knowledge of financial data concepts and insurance domain data models is a plus.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to identify and fix data issues.
• Proficiency with SQL Server or Synapse and basic data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Data Engineer Level 1 for projects, enhancements, and production support.
• Analyze and support assigned projects with hands-on development.
• Assist in estimating work based on business requirements via feasibility/scoping.
• Assist in high/low level designs and technical specifications to be executed.
• Validate accuracy/quality of data integrations from ETL specifications; ensure data model specs are met.
• Assist with hands-on design, development and testing for complex data work.
• Coordinate/lead production implementations to ensure smooth, quality releases.
• Deliver new warehouse sources/tables/marts leveraging company standards.
• Coordinate Ascot and Vendor resources to ensure high quality, timely deliverables.
• Think independently to streamline work, improve speed and quality.
• Identify roadblocks and report them; embody The Ascot Way in daily interactions.
