Rune Technologies is a defense-focused software company seeking a Data Engineer to own TyrOS data needs across deployments. You will assemble, clean, transform, and quality‑control real‑world datasets to support forward‑deployed operations.
You will track data sources, requirements, loaded status, and gaps, collaborating with FDEs and Mission Managers to translate customer needs into concrete data work. Travel ~25% to sites.
Rune Technologies builds mission-critical software for military logistics and sustainment. Our flagship product is TyrOS, an AI-enabled logistics command and control platform that gives commanders a single, real-time operating picture of their sustainment fight, from inventory and distribution to medical and operational planning, even in degraded and contested environments.
We're not a traditional defense contractor. We're a small, fast-moving team that combines deep operational experience in and with the DoD with the software discipline of the best product companies, and we apply that combination to a customer set that desperately needs it. We stay close to our users by embedding directly with military units during exercises and rotations, and we ship constantly based on what we learn.
The U.S. military and its allies face a real logistics modernization problem. We're building the software to solve it.
At Rune Technologies, we are building the logistics technology backbone that the U.S. and allied militaries need to operate and sustain forces in complex environments. As a Data Engineer at Rune, you will work at the intersection of data engineering, data analysis, and practical development to make sure every TyrOS deployment has the data it needs to support real-world logistics operations.
You’ll own the picture of what data each TyrOS instance needs, what is currently loaded, where data comes from, and where the gaps are. You’ll work closely with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and Mission Managers, including in forward-deployed environments, to understand customer requirements and turn them into concrete data needs. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is comfortable working with messy real‑world data, operating independently with incomplete inputs, and creating the systems and processes needed to keep many deployments organized.
