Job summary

GRVTY is seeking a Data Engineer to join an agile development team. The role focuses on building and maintaining ETL pipelines that support data ingestion to query, with a blend of remote and in-person work in a hybrid environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, a BS in engineering or CS, and a TS clearance. Proficiency in Python and Java, Linux, and tools like Git, Nexus, and Maven is expected; DoD 8140/8570 compliance or plan to obtain within 90 days.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • BS in Engineering, CS, or technical degree.
  • Active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligible.
  • Experience with Python and Java.
  • Fluency with data extraction, labeling, and loading for analytics.
  • Familiarity with JSON, XML formats.
  • Ability to decompose problems and troubleshoot data flow.
  • Experience with Agile software lifecycle.
  • Capable of learning quickly and working independently or in a team.
  • Experience with Linux and configuration tools (Git, Nexus, Maven).
  • Familiarity with cyber security logs and data from acquisition to end use.
  • DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
  • Hybrid work schedule with 1–2 days/week in Sterling VA.

Responsibilities

What Impact You’ll Have

GRVTY is seeking a Data Engineer to join an agile development team. The team builds and maintains ETL pipelines that enable full spectrum data operation from ingest to query exceeding current and expected business value requirements. As an individual contributing member of the team, you will participate in our agile development process and will work with modern tools and technologies, and you will be encouraged to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field. What You’ll be Owning
  • Must have a strong working knowledge and experience developing ETL Pipelines
  • The ideal candidate will have worked with big data systems, complex structured and unstructured data sets, and have supported government data acquisition, analysis, and/or sharing efforts in the past
  • To excel in the position, the candidate shall have a strong attention to detail, be able to understand technical complexities, and have the willingness to learn and adapt to the situation
  • Should have an inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing and quality assurance skills.
  • Must also possess strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • Will work in a fast-paced, small business environment independently and with our talented team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Must Have
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or technical degree or industry experience equivalent
  • Current Active Top Secret Clearance, SCI eligible.
  • Experience with programming languages Python and Java
  • Fluency with data extraction, custom translation development, and loading including data prep and labeling to enable data analytics
  • Familiarity with various log formats such as JSON, XML, and others
  • Ability to decompose technical problems and troubleshoot system and data flow issues
  • Experience with the agile software lifecycle
  • Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting
  • Experience with the Linux operating system
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven)
  • Familiarity with network and other cyber security logs and information (windows logs, firewall logs, etc)
    Experience with working on data from acquistion to end display/usage
  • Experience troubleshooting and investigating errors and data problems at scale
  • Must have a DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification (i.e. Security+) or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Sterling VA office. However, flexibility is essential to accommodate any changes in the schedule.
What Would be Nice to Have
  • Desired: 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with the underlying architectures for one or more legacy Unified Platform data platforms (Unified Platform GovCloud, DoD Big Data Platform, JCWA systems) or similar commercial systems consistent with the SOO (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud-based systems or AI/ ML development a plus.
  • Experience with SQL through tools such as trino
  • Experience developing with Kubernetes environments
  • Prior Experience supporting cyber and/or network security operations within a large enterprise, as either an analyst, engineer, architect, or developer
  • Experience with data flow, management (i.e. Kafka, NiFi, and SQS solutions)
  • Familiarity with Zoom/Teams/Meet style team meetings
  • Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).
