MedWatchers partners with health plans to improve member outcomes. Good data is central to how we deliver that work.
About the Role
We're looking for a Data Engineer who can empower our program teams by owning the data pipelines they rely on.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning, maintaining, and improving the production data pipelines behind our client programs
- Diagnosing and resolving pipeline issues, and hardening the systems that cause them
- Turning recurring, high-touch data work into automated processes that run on their own
- Partnering with program teams on client data and reporting needs, and designing systems that reduce those requests over time
- Extending our data validation framework so quality issues surface earlier and more visibly
Required Skills
- 3+ years in a data engineering or similar role, building and maintaining production data pipelines
- Strong experience with building cloud data solutions in AWS
- Strong Python, specifically for ETL/ELT work: writing maintainable, testable pipeline code
- Advanced SQL and relational database experience: schema design, data modeling, and query optimization
- Experience with containerization in production using Docker
- Workflow orchestration experience using DAG-based orchestrator tools, like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
- Demonstrated data validation / data quality experience: building checks that reject, quarantine, or flag bad data (e.g. Great Expectations, Pandara, dbt tests, or custom frameworks)
Preferred Skills
- Track record of automating recurring manual work: taking a fragile, high-touch process and driving it toward "set it and forget it"
- Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders to translate loosely-defined asks into concrete data solutions
- Experience with data cataloging / metadata management / data contracts, using tools like DataHub and OpenMetadata, or having built something similar in-house
- Experience with data observability: instrumenting pipelines so volume, freshness, schema changes, and distribution shifts are tracked and visible over time
- Experience building data lakes that make organizational data easy to query and analyze
- Hands-on experience with document stores like MongoDB
- Experience creating and deploying applications with Kubernetes
Pay Range and Compensation
$100,000-$150,000
Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.
