Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a highly analytical Data Engineer to support a growing database team and on-board new clients, manage large-scale database operations, and automate processes to reduce technical debt.

You will work with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server, crafting and tuning SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL, while focusing on data retention, compliance, auditing, and data quality in regulated environments. Strong problem-solving and stakeholder collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience within relational database environments.
• Strong experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or SQL Server databases (Oracle preferred).
• Ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries.
• Hands-on experience with T-SQL and/or PL/SQL development, including stored procedures, functions, and scripting.
• Experience onboarding or integrating new data sources and mapping data into enterprise data models.
• Strong understanding of database concepts including partitions, schemas, database objects, indexing, and query performance tuning.
• Experience developing repeatable and scalable database processes to support audits, retention initiatives, and operational workflows.
• Ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into database solutions.
• Experience in regulated environments with HIPAA compliance.
• Background in QA, Reporting, BI, or Data Analytics.
• Familiarity with data masking, de-identification techniques, and scripting for automation.

We are seeking a highly analytical Data Engineer to support a growing database team responsible for onboarding new clients, managing large-scale database operations, and reducing technical debt through automation. This role is ideal for someone who understands database fundamentals from both a development and operational perspective and can confidently write and optimize code within complex database environments.

On a day-to-day basis, this individual will work closely with production data sets, helping load and map historical client data into existing systems, automate manual database processes, and improve database performance. They will develop and maintain stored procedures, scripts, and repeatable automation solutions related to data retention, compliance, auditing, and data quality initiatives. The role requires a strong understanding of relational data models, database architecture, query optimization, partitioning strategies, and data governance within regulated environments. While experience writing PL/SQL and other database procedural languages is important, success in this position will also be driven by strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to evaluate and validate generated code, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to solve complex database challenges.

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation.
