Job description

Cobalt is working with a well-respected commercial real estate business in New York City to recruit a Data Engineer. This role is central to the firm’s data and analytics capability, supporting investment decision-making, portfolio performance, and the delivery of data-driven insights across the organisation.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative technology team and play a key role in building and maintaining scalable, reliable data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines
• Develop and manage cloud-based data platforms and warehouses
• Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
• Implement and maintain data models to support reporting and advanced analytics
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across systems
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production data environments
• Document data architecture, pipelines, and engineering best practices

Technology Environment

• Cloud platforms (primarily AWS; experience with GCP also considered)
• SQL-based data warehouses (e.g. Redshift, BigQuery)
• Orchestration and transformation tools (Airflow, dbt, or similar)
• Python and SQL
• Version control and CI/CD workflows

Required Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering role
• Strong SQL skills and experience building production-grade data pipelines
• Hands-on experience with cloud data infrastructure
• Solid understanding of data modelling and warehouse design
• Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
