Location: McLean, VA (On-site/Office-based)

Salary Range: $102,000 - $170,000 (Based on experience)

Our client, a leading global consultancy specializing in high-stakes public sector projects, is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their Data Science division in McLean. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical professional who enjoys building complex data architectures and modernization solutions within a cloud-forward environment.

The Role:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be the backbone of the analytics team, responsible for the design and deployment of scalable data pipelines and cloud infrastructures. You will work closely with developers and DBAs to transform raw data into actionable insights for critical mission-driven projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pipeline Architecture: Design and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT processes to ingest and transform data from a variety of disparate sources.
• Cloud Strategy: Deploy and manage cloud-native solutions using AWS (Redshift, Lambda, ECS, SQS) and Azure.
• Infrastructure & Automation: Implement CI/CD workflows utilizing Jenkins, Git, and Maven; manage containerization via Docker and Kubernetes.
• System Integration: Collaborate on API development (REST/SOAP) and integrate data models with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Observability: Monitor system health and data integrity using tools like Splunk, Kibana, and CloudWatch.
• Modernization: Lead initiatives to migrate legacy systems to modern, cloud-based architectures.

What We’re Looking For:

• U.S. Citizenship or Green Card is required (Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance).
• Experience: A minimum of 8 years in Data Engineering, Software Development, or a highly related technical field.
• Tech Stack: Mastery of Python, Java, SQL, and PySpark.
• Data Environments: Deep experience with Databricks and both SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Cloud Expertise: Proven hands-on experience with the AWS ecosystem and containerized workflows.
• Agile Mindset: Comfortable working in fast-paced, Agile sprints with high autonomy.
• Communication: Ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points for:

• Prior experience in federal consulting or supporting large-scale government modernization programs.
• AWS or Azure professional certifications.
• Background in microservices, Spring Boot, or integrating AI/ML models.
