Job summary

Saige Partners is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team focused on building modern data platforms that power analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence solutions. Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite - based out of Champaign, IL).

You will design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines, build data platforms for analytics, and collaborate with data scientists, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver trusted data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related quantitative field.
  • 3–6 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role.
  • Strong experience designing and building scalable, data-intensive applications and pipelines.

  • Build and maintain data platforms to support analytics, reporting, and predictive modeling.

Data Engineer · Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite - based out of Champaign, IL) · Job Type: Direct Hire · Salary: $125-135k/base (negotiable based on experience).

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines that integrate data from a variety of internal and external sources.
  • Build and maintain robust data platforms that support advanced analytics, reporting, and predictive modeling initiatives.
  • Develop, test, troubleshoot, and enhance data products to meet evolving business and client needs.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high levels of data quality, integrity, and availability.
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, consultants, and business stakeholders to improve data accessibility and usability.
  • Implement modern software engineering best practices including automated testing, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies to improve platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Help deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that create measurable business value for clients.
Qualifications
  • 3 6 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related data engineering role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong experience designing and building scalable, data-intensive applications and pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience developing efficient, maintainable code for large datasets.
  • Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark and/or Databricks.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
  • Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on improving data reliability and quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
  • Experience in financial services, consulting, or risk management is a plus.
