Job summary

A leading tech services company is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for freelance work in Stamford, US. This on-site position involves supporting mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities. Responsibilities include hardware installations, structured cabling, server management, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Candidates should possess strong cabling skills and 2+ years of experience in data center or IT environments. Preferred certifications include CDCP, CCNA, or similar. Flexibility in scheduling with potential for ongoing support is offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience.
• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro).
• Experience with DCIM and ticketing systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations.
• Execute structured cabling for copper and fiber optic.
• Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling.
• Perform cross-connects and patch panel work.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues.
• Document all work with photos and detailed notes.
• Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams.

Skills

Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber)

Professional communication skills in English

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in raised floor environments

Education

Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar)

Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+)

Tools

Standard tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment
