Job summary

Google Stillwater, OK is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, and maintain hardware and server software in a fast-paced environment. You will work with networks and complex components, participate in small projects, and help ensure reliability of Google's physical infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with servers, Linux, and data-center operations, plus the ability to lift heavy loads and work non-standard hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
  • Experience with networking protocols.
  • Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and work physically over extended periods.
  • Must have the ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights and holidays.

US: $122000 - $173000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Coordinate across teams involving moderate to high complexity to manage construction activities at facilities to support service vendors, and ensure safety, security, and compliance. Help identify needs and coordinate the allocation of resources for space expansion and modification design.
  • Compile and analyze data to create and configure scripts and tools for data center-related tracking and reporting, in line with project objectives, with some guidance.
  • Provide expertise and mentorship to deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and identifying the resources needed to resolve identified issues.
  • Own the repair, fix, and performance of preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with limited precedent, independently.
