Job summary

Computacenter AG & Co. oHG in Livermore, CA is seeking a Data Center Technician to guide the flow of physical technology products through the warehouse and Integration Center, where racks are built, tested, and configured to meet customer needs.

The DCT works with minimal direction, handling assets and updating systems for receiving, inventory, and asset management while prepping items for shipping and integration.

Qualifications

• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A+ and/or CCNA Data Center Certificate preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with rack fabrication.
• Physically able to perform required duties and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Cable Matrix: read and interpret cable matrix to correctly lace cables port to port.
• Labeling: operate cable labeling machine and apply label onto cables per customer standards.
• Asset Tracking: keep track of all assets assigned to DCT until completion of rack build.
• Hardware Upgrade: install components to server and networking devices such as memory, CPU, expansion cards, and modules.
• Benching: place items on a designated bench for configuration and testing; record serial numbers.

About the role

The Data Center Technician (DCT) plays a key role inComputacenter’sIntegration Center, guiding the flow of physical technology products through the warehouse and the integration center, where products are crafted, racked, stacked, configured, and tested to meet specific customer needs. DCTs work with little or minimal direction, handling products and updating associated information systems for the following business functions: receiving, cycle counting, kitting, inventory, picking, benching, un-benching, packing, shipping, asset management, pre-stage rack and stack activities, and programming and configuration of automation programs as required by customers.

Note: This position is located at the Livermore, CA facility. Data Center Technicians will be assigned a passkey for access to the Integration Center (IC) and Warehouse areas, which is otherwise restricted.This position is assigned to the First Shift, with standard working hours of 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

What you'll be doing

• Labeling: operate cable labeling machine and apply label onto cables per customer standards.
• Asset Tracking: keep track of all assets assigned to DCT until completion of rack build.
• Hardware Upgrade: Install components to server and networking devices such as, memory, CPU, expansion cards, and modules.
• Benching: Place specified items on a designated, numbered bench for configuration and testing; includes un-boxing, labeling, powering-up, and recording serial numbers.
• Un-benching: re-package (match product serial numbers) and retrieve the designated items from the designated bench in the Integration Center, record the change in location and status of the items in the inventory system, and place them in a designated staging area in the warehouse to prepare for shipping.
• Boxing: craft the designated items for a given project into larger boxes or pallets, stretch-wrapping them, and verifying that all of the designated items are included in the set.
• Asset Management and Data Collection: capture critical device information such asset tag, serial numbers, mac addresses, and other information deemed significant for client and company use.
• Make recommendations to improve customer designs to power and equipment load when necessary.

What you have

• Able to meet the physical requirements of the usual and customary methods of performing the job functions, including: a variety of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; repeated twisting at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves; regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; usage of pallet jacks; carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing, including ladders, and balancing; and significant fine finger dexterity.
• Able to read and understand rack elevation and cable matrix documentation.
• Able to plan and prioritize challenging projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
• Able to work independently, as well as with peers.
• Able to adapt with rapid change.
• Strong working knowledge of computer system applications (e.g. Windows, Microsoft Office, OSX,Salesforce).
