TEKsystems in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Datacenter Technician (Level 2) for a long-term contract to support buildout and operations of production datacenters, racks, and related infrastructure. The role emphasizes hands-on work and collaboration with network teams in a fast-paced environment.

You will diagnose server issues with Linux-based tools, perform component replacements, firmware updates, and rack/stack tasks. Graveyard shift; on-site only.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of hands-on Datacenter Technician experience.
• Strong ability to independently troubleshoot and isolate server issues using Linux.
• Experience with rack/stack, server configuration, and datacenter hardware installation.
• Proficiency with cabling, wiring, and physical infrastructure tasks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with network teams.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and isolate server issues using Linux-based tools and break/fix methodologies.
• Order, replace, and install server components; return defective parts to vendors.
• Perform firmware updates to ensure servers run latest versions.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Support network admins with cable replacement, re-routing, optics, and component upgrades.
• Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches for remote configuration.
• Provide hands-on support to network admins as requested.
• Perform Level 1 duties including rack/stack and deployment support.

Datacenter Technician (Level 2)

Location: On-site

Shift: Graveyard

Overview

This long-term Datacenter Technician (Level 2) role supports the buildout and ongoing operations of production datacenters, including racks, bench-testing areas, and other critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on datacenter operations experience, advanced break/fix troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with network teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and isolate server issues using Linux-based tools and logical break/fix methodologies.
• Order, replace, and install server components; return defective parts to vendors.
• Perform firmware updates to ensure servers are running the latest versions.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Support network administrators with tasks such as:
• Replacing damaged or broken cables
• Re-routing cables to alternate ports
• Replacing optics on server and switch ports
• Installing upgraded server components
• Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to enable remote configuration by network teams.
• Provide targeted assistance to network admins requesting hands-on support.
• Perform Level 1 duties as needed, including rack/stack and deployment support.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Hillsboro, OR.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
