Job summary

Google in San Francisco is seeking a Data Center Site Negotiator to identify locations for Google’s next‑generation data centers, establish agreements with landowners, energy providers, and developers, and lead discussions on purchase and service agreements.

You will manage a broad range of compliance issues, track milestones, and collaborate with internal teams to align site development with Google's growth strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience negotiating and structuring agreements or leading business development.
• 6 years of experience in real estate development, evaluation, acquisition, construction, and site selection for industrial-scale data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal and external technical teams to identify, define, and pursue new site expansion projects and initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing data center needs, including the procurement of infrastructure for existing and new sites.
• Monitor progress against objectives, providing regular status reports and advocating financial metrics to support both site and infrastructure related portfolio decisions.
• Manage the strategy for ongoing growth at existing regions and sites.
• Develop metrics for mapping, tracking, and advocating of a broad range of portfolio management issues regarding site/infrastructure development.
• Foster an open workplace for colleagues in day‑to‑day interactions and conversations.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial-class electrical and cooling technology, or other related technical areas.
• Experience in real estate development, evaluation, acquisition, construction, and site selection for industrial-scale projects.
• Experience managing utility agreements and energy-related issues. Experience in financial modeling and implementing clean energy initiatives.
• Experience in indirect taxes, economic development policy, infrastructure development, agreement drafting, and presentation development. Experience with data center real estate markets.
• Ability to think outside the box and propose commercially and technically creative solutions.
• Ability to comfortably work in ambiguous, collaborative, and changing environments.

In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. As a Data Center Site Negotiator, you will work with the team to identify locations and sites of interest for Google's data centers, establish agreements and build relationships with landowners, economic development officials, power grid and energy companies, telecommunications companies and government officials, data center developers, as well as data center providers. You will lead discussions for purchase and service agreements with these key stakeholders such as managing a broad range of compliance issues, site/infrastructure development strategy and milestone tracking.
