Job summary

Anchor Mission Critical seeks a Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to lead and execute complex mechanical commissioning on mission-critical data center projects. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with controls, electrical teams, contractors, and OEMs, and ensure robust testing and documentation.

Responsibilities include owning PFCs, FPT, IST participation, and driving results with rigor while aligning with the Anchor Playbook for reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6–12 years of experience in mission-critical or high-reliability mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated experience executing mechanical commissioning on data center projects.
• Preferred: hyperscale or large colocation data center experience.
• Preferred: prior experience in a senior or lead commissioning role.

• Execute and oversee Pre-Functional Checks (PFCs), including L2/L3 readiness inspections.
• Develop, execute, and document Functional Performance Testing (FPT).
• Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including thermal failure and recovery scenarios.
• Coordinate with controls, electrical teams, contractors, and OEMs during testing and troubleshooting.
• Identify and resolve mechanical issues; elevate risks using Anchor Mission Critical issue protocols.
• Review test results and commissioning documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Mentor and guide Mechanical Commissioning Engineers.

Job description

The Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is a senior technical contributor responsible for leading mechanical commissioning scopes on mission-critical data center projects.

This role bridges hands-on execution and technical leadership, owning complex mechanical testing activities while mentoring junior engineers and supporting discipline leads and project managers in delivering reliable, resilient cooling and mechanical systems in alignment with the Anchor Mission Critical Playbook.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical commissioning scopes under the direction of the Mechanical Commissioning Lead or Cx PM

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of mission-critical cooling systems and architectures
• Experience with CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, liquid cooling, and heat rejection systems
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and sequences of operation
• Working knowledge of controls integration, sensor strategy, and redundancy concepts
• Familiarity and experience with commissioning platforms

Education & Experience Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 6–12 years of experience in mission-critical or high-reliability mechanical systems
• Demonstrated experience executing mechanical commissioning on data center projects

Preferred:

• Hyperscale or large colocation data center experience
• Prior experience in a senior or lead commissioning role

Certifications (Preferred)

• Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety

Salary Range

$120,000 – $151,000+

This range reflects nominal experience of 6 –12 years in mission-critical mechanical commissioning. Compensation above the stated range may be considered for exceptional technical depth or leadership capability.

Bonus eligibility and payout are based on a combination of individual performance, project success, and company-wide results.

Employment Status

This position is full-time and exempt. Employment is at-will, subject to applicable state and federal law.
