Google Data Center Operations is seeking a Plant Engineer with senior electrical qualifications to lead critical plant troubleshooting and commissioning. You will oversee HV/LV equipment, support energy efficiency initiatives, and ensure safe, reliable operation of data center infrastructure.
You will work across CMMS/BMS platforms, manage routine maintenance, and mentor junior staff while adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements in a demanding data center environment.
Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components).
As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.
As a Data Center Operations Plant Engineer, you are a leader of exceptional environmental practices. You will design and operate some of the most sophisticated and efficient electrical and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems using 50% less energy than most data centers around the world. You will continually seek different approaches to reduce operational costs while improving efficiencies through the operation and maintenance of Low Voltage/Medium Voltage/High Voltage (LV/MV/HV) Electrical systems and control and monitoring systems.
You have a electrical background and are a technology enthusiast who not only enjoys being challenged by problems of scale and complexity but also has a strong desire to make services better for users while doing better for the environment.
