Job summary

A telecommunications company in San Francisco is seeking a hands-on Data Center Optical Engineer to support installation, operation, and troubleshooting of optical and network infrastructure. The role requires 3–5 years of experience in data center operations, knowledge of Ethernet/IP, and optical networks, along with strong communication skills. Responsibilities include testing circuits, troubleshooting equipment, and providing support according to SLAs. This is an on-site contract role with flexibility in shifts.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in data center operations or optical/network support.
• Hands-on experience with racking, cabling, break-fix, and optical testing.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet, IP, and optical transport networks.

Responsibilities

• Perform break-fix, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement for optical, network, and IT equipment.
• Provide remote hands support by executing MOPs and engineering documentation.
• Test and turn up 10G–100G circuits using OTDR and power meters.
