Job summary

CAC I is seeking a Data Center Operations Specialist to support the Defense Intelligence Agency with 24/7 operations, ensuring secure data center health, resiliency, and efficiency. The role blends hands‑on hardware management with environmental monitoring, cloud integration, and cross‑functional engineering support.

The position requires TS/SCI clearance with poly, DOD 8140 certification, and 4+ years of hands‑on IT hardware/software experience.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start.
  • DOD 8140 Certification applicable to role (minimum Security+)
  • An AA and 10+ years of experience, BS/BA and 8+ years of experience, MS/MA and 6+ years of experience, or PhD and 4+ years of experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience integrating, operating, and maintaining IT hardware and software solutions

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, operate, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud‑based data center lifecycle configurations per design specifications for optimal redundancy, resiliency, availability, and efficiency
  • Perform physical racking, stacking, and provisioning of enterprise servers, network gear, and storage devices
  • Execute hardware break/fix tasks, including swapping out failed components (e.g., hard drives, RAM, power supplies) and decommissioning end‑of‑life hardware
  • Manage, upgrade, and maximize the efficient use of modern technologies for copper and fiber cable plants
  • Run, terminate, dress, label, and test structured cabling installations
  • Monitor ongoing physical location variables, including seismic, fire, and thermal events, power and cooling usages, and overall environmental parameters
  • Coordinate with stakeholder mechanical, network, and security resources for ongoing operations.
  • Collaborate with engineers on physical and virtual site surveys, data gathering, and documentation reviews
  • Provide support for all data center implementations
  • Manage IT asset inventory, including shipping, receiving, secure storage, and asset tagging
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams on the integration of data center monitoring tools into designs to meet end‑state SLAs and ITSM customer service objectives
  • Conduct testing of data center solutions and configurations to aid in achieving Interim Authorities to Test (IATTs) and Authorities to Operate (ATOs)
  • Ensure ongoing compliance for deployed solutions with all physical and safety best practices, laws, and regulations

The Opportunity:

This includes continuous service improvement through the modernization of IT system infrastructure.

CACI is looking for an experienced, innovative, and motivated Data Center Operations Specialist to support the mission objectives and needs of the customer, the Defense Intelligence Agency. Our highly skilled Data Center Operations Specialist will serve as a key member of our global, 24/7 operations team. This role is essential for ensuring the physical and virtual health, resiliency, and efficiency of our secure data center environments. The successful candidate will blend hands‑on hardware and infrastructure management with advanced environmental monitoring, cloud integration, and cross‑functional engineering support.

The position is contingent upon award of the DIA SITE III CIO Infrastructure Services (CIS) contract.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
