Job summary

Google Inc. in Kansas City, MO seeks an experienced Data Center Operations Manager for the Third Shift to lead on-shift operations, drive performance, and mentor junior engineers.

You will guide global data center architecture, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure safety and reliability of critical infrastructure. The role requires deep technical acumen, strong leadership, and comfort with non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to maintain 24/7 data center

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
• 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated on-shift leadership, performance management, and escalations support during regular business hours (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, third (3rd) Shift).
• Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture.
• Hire, coach and develop a team while achieving strategic business goals.
• Ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives. Demonstrate the ability to implement and drive the safety culture at the site, while fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives in collaboration with other teams to ensure environmental and safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.

• Track record of leading and improving Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.
• Ability to implement and drive the safety culture at the site, while fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent strategic problem-solving skills.
