Job summary

Google is looking for a Hardware Operations Manager to lead a team of Data Center Technicians responsible for installing and maintaining server hardware at scale. You will oversee complex installations and troubleshoot issues to ensure uptime and reliability.

The role requires managing non-standard hours and collaborating with cross-functional teams to set long-term facility plans while advancing security, safety, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team; set priorities; provide performance feedback and coaching.
• Partner with teams to manage facility activities and set long-term strategies.
• Maintain and monitor security and operational procedures; analyze trends for improvements.
• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and infrastructure.
• Support EH&S and compliance programs; ensure incidents are investigated and reported.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
• Experience installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware servers and their components.
• Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating large-scale infrastructure, network and compute architecture and lifecycle, Linux/Unix system administration, Google Workspace, AI Platform, SQL, Scripting, Data Analytics, and Project Management.
• Track record of leading and improving Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.
• Demonstrated strong performance and experience with data gathering, analysis, and presentation skills.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $122000 - $173000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Lead a team of individuals; set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
• Partner with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities and set/implement short- and long-term strategies.
• Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.
• Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives in collaboration with other teams to ensure environmental and safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.
